Class Teachers, Subject Teachers and Double Qualified: Conceptions of Teachers Skills in Early Language Learning in Finland

The shift to an earlier start in foreign language teaching Finland took place nationwide 2020. Both class teachers and subject faced a new situation. They would be children younger than before, or they completely for them. This article examines teachers’ conceptions of the skills qualities, including required skills, that are important teacher early teaching. data this study were gathered through essays (n=44, teachers, double qualified teachers) turned as tasks during in-service training languages. analyzed with content analysis. findings show found it most essential have inspiration job able inspire learners. also considered focus on learners learning environment, well years pedagogy. did not consider education other but yet wished communicate target class.
